I have set the status of one of my accounts to closed. While it is no longer visible from the overview page, it still tries to sync the account. I don't want to delete the account entirely, since I want to keep the transaction history from when the account was open.
How do I get a closed account to stop syncing?

This bug is causing me to search for alternatives to Mint. The longer you use Mint, the more closed accounts you will have, and the more annoying this bug becomes.
G'bye, Mint. -
Really!?!?
8 months ago you were monitoring the issue, 5 months ago you were addressing the issue, and now after a YEAR of comments and complaints it's being "worked on with high priority"? You'll have to forgive me if I don't hold my breath.
How hard can this be to resolve? Maybe this will help:
public GetRecentTransactions()
{
if (this.Status != AcctStatusEnum.Active)
{
// Account is not active - do not import transactions
return;
}
<p/>
// Account active - import transactions
// (Insert your existing import code here)
.
.
.
}
[ I will be happy to accept payment for this solution via PayPal ]

Can a Mint representative please confirm they know this problem exists and whether it is given low, medium, or high priority?
At the very least, there should be a way to permanently turn off the incessant "One of your accounts needs your attention!" alert that Mint gives you when it tries to sync a closed account.-
taka April 09, 2010 02:03I have several Amex accounts. Some are not in use. I've marked them closed, but they still sync. I'd like to see a way to delete an account, not a bank.EditDeleteRemove

I have this same issue w/ all of my closed accounts:
Chase Manhattan: Mortgage
Sallie Mae: Student Loan
All have been marked as "closed" but I get bugged to fix the login information by Mint -

I have the same issue with all of my accounts. And the annoying message appears in the overview tab telling "Your accounts are all up to date! Refresh the page to get your newest info" even though it is just my closed account with the problem.

I guess I want the opposite. My SECU account is tied to my dads so that I can see/access his accounts, but I don't want transactions or funds showing up in mint. I've closed those particular accounts in the mint account interface, and the dollar amounts show $0, but I still see transactions from them. Can I get rid of the transactions?

nothing to do with bank... I think the gap is understand following the below use case
1. i had an account, (CD, or loan or some bank) and regularly had transaction history from that account
2. now that account has closed
3. I want
a) retain past transaction history
b) not show any balance from this account
c) not have mint complain that one account has a problem
Dear MINT - Now is this so hard??? I think this shoudl be a critical functionality in any such software. Mint is great and I love it but this is where you guys fall behind MS Money. Sorry!!! -
-
@sh435032,
I think you hit the use case right on the head; however, I've never understood why people think it's a good idea to condescend in bug reports in free software. -

2Hi Minters,
You can either set your account status "Hidden" or "Closed". If you want to hide your account and transactions either from the entire Mint or in the planning and trends section only , set to "Hidden". Your Cashflow graph will be adjusted accordingly. If you choose "Closed" the transactions will remain in Mint but the balance will be zero.
See the steps below on how to Hide an account:
1. Click the “Your Accounts” link at the upper right corner of the page.
2. On the upper right, click the "Hide" tab.
3. Choose which account(s) you wish to show or hide either from the planning and trends or from the entire Mint.
4. Click close
steps below on how to Close an account:
1. Click the “Your Accounts” link at the upper right corner of the page.
2. Locate the account/s you want to change.
3. Click on the specific account then “Edit Details”.
4. Use the dropdown box on the right to mark the account closed.
Important Note: When you hide an account from "Planning & Trends", the account will be excluded from budget (Planning) and trends sections only but transactions will still be visible. While if you choose to hide the account from "All of Mint", it will be excluded from all of Mint features and calculations. Transactions will also be hidden.
Thank you,

Hi Charmane, can you reply to arupmans response? we are following these directions but we keep getting sync errors. Unlike others, this isnt a show stopper (its just a warning guys, its not that HUGE of a deal), but it is annoying :).

Having this problem with Wachovia/Wells Fargo accounts. Looking for any update on this, as it's been happening for over two months now.

Charmane,
This response is downright insulting. While I understand that this product is a free offering, we are not a paid QA department either. When several users take the time to carefully document their use case and explain their problem, we would appreciate it if you thoughtfully read those posts.
EVERY SINGLE USER in this thread has hidden the account as your describe. It is clear that closing the account at the institution before hiding the account in Mint is the source of this problem. -
-
Charmane,
As we've previously stated in the thread, we all know HOW to "close" the account within Mint; the problem is that Mint continues to try and update the account, despite its "closed" status. Please review the previous posts in the thread, as they reveal the true nature of the problem that needs to be addressed my Mint's developers. -
-
Same issue here. I would like to see all closed accounts not sync. What is the purpose of closing anyway?
-
-
-
-
Just thought I'd add my name to the list of people with this same problem. I have closed the account in Mint, and I want to retain the transactions. The problem is that Mint continues to try and access the account to which I no longer have access (because it has been closed at the bank). This is a Chase checking account and I've had this problem for nine months.
-
-
I do have the same issue of the closed account trying to update. I can confirm that it is indeed updating because the account is still active at the bank
The reason is, this is a National City Checking/Saving account that was just switched to PNC. It was having all sorts of trouble updating after the switch so I mint-closed the account and mint-opened a PNC account and this has no issues updating.
I assumed that mint-closing the National City account would stop the updates, but now it still updates and is duplicating the pnc account.-
Since National City started updating again. I set this as active and deleted the PNC account.
This is now fixed for my situation, but there is still a major bug in Mint. -
-
-
-
-
It really shouldn't matter what the status of the account at the bank is. If you tell Mint.com that it is "closed," it is supposed to remember all your transactions, but not try to update it. It seems like a pretty straightforward and simple bug in Mint.com. I have 2 closed accounts that it is doing this with. However, it causes no problems aside from seeing a false "some of your accounts need your attention!" message.
-
-
I have the same PNC to National City issues. Though I set my NC account to closed and marked the overlapping transactions as duplicates. The only issue is that the transactions that were left pending from the NC account remain at the top of my transaction list.
How can I remove these pending transactions from the closed account? -
-
-
This is the same problem I have. My other Chase accounts that are still open won't update because I closed a Chase Savings account.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
If all accounts are closed for an institution then why not stop the updating.? But the account in another tab as closed or inactive so that it is separate from the active accounts.
-
-
this is getting a bit ridiculous. previously only 3 of my closed accounts had this issue; now all that are closed are giving me update errors.
-
-
I consider Mint.com broken until this is fixed. It's that important for me.
I have three Bank of Americas account that are long gone but still have errors syncing. -
-
I've had this same problem for over a year. Seems like a pretty easy fix, I can't believe it hasn't been addressed yet. Why in the world would I still want Mint to connect to a closed account?

I closed my credit union account about 6 months ago. I have it listed as "closed" under the Accounts page (the little pull down in the upper right) but I always get the error that Mint "cannot log in to this account, please go to the website and fix it". @charmane:
I'm glad this issue hasn't gotten lost..but it was reported 6+ months ago and seems like a really easy fix to a really annoying problem!
accounts.each do |account|
next if account.closed?
account.sync!
end
I hope Mint engineers are able to roll out a fix soon. -
-
I too have this problem and it is really annoying. When I click the CLOSE checkbox, Mint should quit trying to synchronize with that financial institution. Just that simple. I do not want to delete 300+ DAYS of transactions, thereby ruining the whole point of having a service that tracks historical data. Please correct this issue soon. Having an entire page of yellow accounts "Problem signing in" and "Temporary issue!" is not useful at all.

I have multiple accounts with the same bank. Some are closed but still show up. Problem #2 of 2 submitted today: Why aren't accounts clicked as CLOSED staying closed? We don't want to delete and lose our history. But we had WaMu accounts (now gone, obviously) and then it ported to Chase and we closed those a month ago. They keep showing up in our list as "temporary login problem" and we open it, and re-click closed and nothing is staying closed. It isn't just annoying, it means mint times out and logs us out while that's spinning endlessly.

I have marked some of my accounts as closed, however Mint is still connecting and downloading data for these accounts. I don't want mint to keep doing this as it is causing duplicate transactions to show up. Also, I wasn't sure if deleting the account would be an option since I want to keep historical transactions in there.
How can I stop Mint form connecting to my closed accounts?

You can make the log in information incorrect - this will just give you log in errors all the time, but will stop the duplicate transactions.

Now that Wachovia has become Wells Fargo, all of my Wachovia Accounts are now in sync limbo. The time that is has taken to resolve this problem is an absolute joke and my accounts are now totally messed up.

You REALLY need to move that 'delete' button for the accounts somewhere deeper in the interface and make the 'close' operation more visible. Deleting an account is an unusual operation in day to day finances, you don't normally want to delete all your historical data. At the very least change the warning text to note "this will delete HISTORICAL data" so people don mistakenly do so.

I have a similar problem. I now get "Problem Signing In" with a bank where one of my accounts was closed and one was modified. I opened a separate, test Mint account, and could add my bank just fine, so it was the change in my bank account that must have triggered Mint's "confusion."
I had two accounts with that particular bank in Mint, then one of them was closed (which I marked as "closed" in Mint), the other had a behind-the-scenes change (even kept the same account number), and I got a new account. That seemed to prevent Mint from allowing me to connect again to my bank. I've had a case open for a week without a solution yet. My concern is that I'll lose transaction history (including my own modifications) or get transactions duplicated. -

I *think* I may have found a solution... Up until now all my "closed" accounts (via the Accounts pop-up) were still reporting in Transactions and in Trends (but not in Overview). Even though they were CLOSED.
However, from Your Profile > Profile tab > Hide, I was able to manually move each account to the "Hide From All of Mint" column. Save, and now they don't show up on my Transactions or Trends accounts anymore!-
Hi anjp,
I tried that with my bank, and got the same result as you. However, the bank still appears in the list of Financial Accounts (click "Edit" link in the accounts side-bar to bring up the list of Banks), and still is shown in yellow to indicate an update error. The error message is, "Problem signing in", which makes sense, given that all my accounts at that Bank are now closed.
The solution I'm looking for would be, when I have closed all the accounts at an Bank (i.e,. by expanding each account, setting the status to "Closed", and clicking OK to confirm), Mint should no longer try to sync with that Bank, nor display the Bank in my Financial Accounts list, nor warn me that it is unable to sign in to that Bank. I suppose the Bank could be shown in a special "Closed Accounts" section or separate list, for archival/recovery purposes. But it should not hang around on my active Financial Accounts list forever.
But I don't want to delete the account either, for many of the reasons given by other people in this thread. -
-
The point here hasn't been to hide transactions from Mint; I want my history to display in my history, otherwise I'd just delete the account.
The point is that it should be really, really, really simple for them to add a conditional statement to the function that checks for updates to tell it that an account is closed, and to not flag it as having an issue. A closed account should be closed, we shouldn't have to remove that account from the application (whether deleting it or hiding it). -

My closed credit card is still updating. My credit card has changed banks and to prevent login confusion, I've re-added it to mint with the new bank and "closed" it in mint with the old bank. Sorry for the delayed response. We do understand your take, sentiments and frustrations on this issue. Mint's engineering team is aware of the problem and it is actively being worked on with high priority, they have filed it under "Improvement" for our product team.
We cannot give an exact date of when this will be resolved, but, you may keep an eye here in our customer support community for the regular product and system updates.
In the meantime, thank you for your patience.
Best,
Charmane-
Give me a break! Charmane, you have spent more time just cutting and pasting these canned responses than it would have taken a novice engineer to fix the problem. The fact that we don't pay for Mint services doesn't excuse the complete lack of attention to this matter. Using a user forums as a substitute for quality control is a sad trend in today's software industry. Especially when it is as useless as this. You guys need to fix your organizational structure to put the developers closer to the customers. In cases like these, interposing layers of non-technical P.R. departments undermines the entire credibility of Mint as useful end product.

I had a credit card with Charles Schwab and was happily using that with Mint, but then Schwab moved the card over to FIA card services. Now, the original card associated with Schwab always shows an error message about signing in which is annoying. I don't want to delete the Schwab account, though, since I need all of the transaction data associated with it.
I also tried marking the Schwab account as closed, but that didn't change anything. Is there any way to get rid of the "Sign In Problem" error.

So I have an old 401k that my company has rolled over to a new provider. I no longer have an account at the old institution (ADP / mykplan) so there aren't any valid credentials to log into that account.
I don't want to delete the account so I can keep my historical data, so I've set the account to "closed" in the edit screen. The problem is that either before or after that status was set, Mint tried to connect and failed, and now it is "stuck" in an error state. While not really a critical problem, it is a bug that i find really annoying since I always have one account in "needs your attention" state.
Any way to actually push that account to "closed" and stop it from trying to download new transactions (like the screen prompts indicate)?
Thanks,

I closed an account and marked it as closed in Mint. But now I get errors that Mint can't update the account...well of course not it's a closed account. Is there a way to stop the account from updating? I don't want to delete the account as I want to keep the history in Mint but it's closed and should't download anymore.

Hi,
I have an account that closed, but I would like to keep the history in Mint...at least for now. In between the time it closed and I was able to mark it as closed in Mint, Mint flagged it for login problems. So now, even though I have the account marked as closed, I still get a flag on the front page stating "one of your accounts needs your attention". It's this one, that is marked as closed, but Mint has flagged.
Thanks for a great app. I love it.

I finished paying out my car loan. I marked the account closed on Mint. However, the loan provider has also closed the account and Mint can no longer log in, so it complains about a problem with that account. The only way to stop the warning is to delete the account and all its history, which I don't want to do. Shouldn't a "closed" loan account indicate to Mint to stop logging in?

Well, I'm mad. I recently closed a checking account, and noticed the error msg on mint.com when it tried to sync with the closed checking account. I was unaware that when you delete the closed account on mint, it actually removes the transaction history....which is 3 years worth. Thanks Mint.com.
-
-
Mine is fixed now! Not sure if it is fixed for everyone, but the auto loan that I had paid off is no longer marked yellow with error. It is correctly marked green with closed and last checked 1 year ago.
Thanks Mint! -
-
Looks like it's fixed on the website for me which is awesome. Unfortunately, the new iPhone app now shows both my closed accounts as having problems. Also, the closed accounts appear at the top of my list, and I'd just expect them to show up at the bottom.
-
-
Not fixed for me. I have an account that switched providers, so I added the new location and closed the old account. But both continue to sync, no matter what I do, so I get dozens of duplicate transactions every time I log in to Mint.
-
-
How long does it take for Mint to actually fix issues like this? The issue itself was reported over a year ago. Mint has been "actively working on it" for four months.
This isn't just an aesthetic problem. People can get mountains of duplicate transactions which massively devalue the service provided by Mint. In my case, an account moved providers, but the old one is still working. I made the switch manually, closing the old account. But the old one still syncs, and still puts hundreds of duplicate transactions into my account every month.
Come on, guys. How hard can this be to fix? If the account is closed, stop syncing it. If there are complex issues around what to do when one account out of several on one provider is closed, then deal with that later. But at least solve the common case of closing a provider entirely. That would solve a huge number of people's problems, and could probably be done in a day. -
-
Mint team — how is this an improvement? I listed my account as "Closed", but it's still downloading new transactions. That not expected behavior; it's a bug. It's really annoying to have transactions continue to come in when I've explicitly told the system not to access the account.
My use case: I have a credit card and checking account from the same bank. The checking account, though, is for a group, it's not my personal account, so I don't want its transactions mixing in with my Mint account. However, to be able to have my credit card purchases downloaded by Mint, looks like I have no choice but to download all transactions for both accounts and then, one-by-one, mark the group transactions as "Exclude from Mint."
That sounds like a bug, not an improvement. -
-
My wife and I have a joint checking account and joint investment account. Additionally, we have our own IRAs. To make sure what can view all our information, I have to provide log in info for each of us. In order to ensure no duplicate transaction taking place, I indicated on Mint to close the checking and investment account for my wife. Closing the investment account worked great. No duplicate transaction being downloaded. However, transactions are still be downloaded from the "closed" checking account for my wife. Therefore, duplicating each transaction. I feel everyone's pain. It's annoying to have to manual change each transaction to show duplicate to ensure that overall account values are correct on mint. I hope Mint can solve this issue. I've been using Mint for some time, but I'm beginning to lose confidence it the reliability of their platform. Just seem one bug after another.
-
I'm now having this exact problem too. Accounts that were marked as closed seemed to have worked, but now they start syncing again. This is a regression.

This is pretty sad. Hard to understand.
I might start trying out some of their competitors, any reccomendations? One with an Android app would be nice.-
I've been seeing a lot of recommendations for Yodlee here, so I just signed up for them a few minutes ago. Apparently, before Mint was acquired by Intuit/Quicken (and before all the incredible glitches began), they were using Yodlee. See the two links below:

Frustrated. This is a trivial programming issue and has taken months to fix. Now because of this March 31st accounts warning I'm also getting spammed by email and login warnings about fixing these CLOSED ACCOUNTS.
This problem is just getting worse. How long can it take a competent web developer to fix this?? -
-
I am also being warned about the need to update login information for closed accounts prior to March 31. This problem clearly has no priority for Mint.
-
-
-
-
It would be great if this is fixed soon. I have a Wachovia account and a Wells Fargo account, both closed before the merger. Now it's telling me to fix those accounts before March 31st and I'm worried that all my transactions are going to delete after that.
-
-
Really!?!?
8 months ago you were monitoring the issue, 5 months ago you were addressing the issue, and now after a YEAR of comments and complaints it's being "worked on with high priority"? You'll have to forgive me if I don't hold my breath.
How hard can this be to resolve? Maybe this will help:
public GetRecentTransactions()
{
if (this.Status != AcctStatusEnum.Active)
{
// Account is not active - do not import transactions
return;
}
<p/>
// Account active - import transactions
// (Insert your existing import code here)
.
.
.
}

This has been an issue for over a year. How hard is this to handle? I want data from an old account (debt reduced to zero on a now a closed CC – or lots of assets moved, say from a IRA to Roth, then closing that IRA). So it's not like that debt didn't exist, and it's not like the Roth assets suddenly - poof! - appeared. They slowly accumulated in the IRA, I moved the dollars to Roth, I terminated the empty IRA and set it as closed. Now, this stupid thing keeps telling me "there was a problem accessing your account - please fix it!" THERE IS NO PROBLEM. YOU ARE NOT FOLLOWING MY DIRECTIONS. I set the account as closed, so stop looking at it! Keep the old data, but STOP HARASSING ME.
I think the Mint creators do not understand the anger of the interface insisting – every day for over a year – that there is a problem with my accounts.
I want to use Mint to simplify my life, but all it does is give me a false negative error EVERY DAMN TIME I LOGIN. SHUT UP. -
-
This bug is causing me to search for alternatives to Mint. The longer you use Mint, the more closed accounts you will have, and the more annoying this bug becomes.
G'bye, Mint. -
-
-
-
It would also be nice to have closed accounts in a different page from the accounts page or at least in a different section of the accounts page. I have about as many closed accounts as open ones and it would be nice not to have to see them all the time!
-
-
It's exciting that this is still going on. I feel like I'm one of the original settlers getting in on this bug over A YEAR AND A 1/2 AGO! I mean, c'mon.
Now that Wells Fargo bought Wachovia and Mint has "upgraded" their connection engine and introduced linking, stuff is even more screwed up than before! -
-
The quality of both support and product on Mint.com have deteriorated since their acquisition. My only reason for using Mint is to see all of my financial data in one place without a lot of effort. If i wanted to spend more time importing data and organizing it than looking at my transactions then I would download all this stuff in to Excel. It's sad really, that a service focused so heavily on historical financial data has failed at it's greatest selling point.
-
-
This seems like a pretty easy feature: enabling or disabling the synchronization of an account.
I agree with chebalski, lately I feel like the overall quality of mint is going downhill. -
-
It was mentioned in one of the posts earlier but wanted to revisit the issue.
I closed my chase checking account and ended up with a pending transaction for the casher's check of the balance. I deposited the check at my other financial institution but since the account was closed it remained as pending forever. I ended up deleting the transaction and wanted to add one manually as a transfer so the new money in my other account could be traced back to the closed account. But unfortunately i was neither able to force the pending transaction to be accepted nor add a line item to deduct the balance as a transfer.
When I changed the account to closed in mint it simply changed the balance to 0. doesn't seem like a smart solution since there must be a transaction to mark the withdrawal of funds from the account otherwise its like the money just disappeared. -
-
I am have been having this issue now for a few years. I have one checking account with Wells Fargo. However, my wife and I each have IRA accounts with WF. So we put in BOTH our logins to get the IRAs individually. Now the checking account is on each profile so it comes in TWICE. I selected one of these and pressed CLOSED. This stopped the balance from coming in, but EVERY transaction comes in. I even went so far as to reverse it and CLOSE the other account and reopen on the other login. After a few hours of fixing, it did the exact same thing. So, feeling completely defeated, I go in about once per week and mass update, just a few clicks a week, but after a while it is really annoying...
-
-
What the heck? Over 1 year to implement an arguably basic feature to not sync a closed account? Given that this would reduce Mint's own transaction overhead of connecting to inactive accounts, I'm amazed that this issue isn't fixed yet.
Extremely disheartening. -
-
This is driving me up a wall. Mint uses closed accounts for some calculations (net worth, spending history), but not for others. The closed accounts still show up on the iPhone app, but they don't show up in the online overview.
Who is running this operation? Please assure me the people in charge of resolving this issue are not the same people charged with electronic security. A glitch for a few days is one thing - a glitch you can't fix for a year is 100% unsatisfactory.
Getting ready to close my mint account altogether - not worth it, not sure about their security, not sure about their competence. I'll find an alternative. -
-
extremely annoyed by this. probably the only thing that bugs me about mint other than the lack of an iPad app
-
-
It has been a while since I have this problem and I cannot believe this has not been resolved already.
-
-
Fix it already. The user experience and pretty graphics are useless if it can't get your transactions right. Hire some more programmers already.
-
-
I've frequently been one to jump in to defend developers of a product or service, explaining to people why database or coding issues might make it more difficult to solve than it may appear.
But this? Seriously? This is incredibly basic stuff. Do you realize how much it damages your credibility to keep insisting this has been "escalated to high priority", and yet it keeps not getting fixed?
Two possibilities here:
1. It's not really a priority at all, and is being ignored despite being the #2 customer complaint, indicating that they team is spending all their time working on tools for harvesting statistical data for it's paying customers, the corporations (like the saying goes: if you're not paying for the service, you're the product being sold). If this is the case, they should realize that that gravy train is going to dry up if they ignore their users this blatantly.
2. The other option is that they are dealing with a lump of undocumented spaghetti code so convoluted that it really IS that difficult to fix. Which would indicate that the entire system is on the verge of collapse, held together by chewing gum and baling wire.
Actually, there's a third option: that the company is so badly organized that it is, in effect, utterly and completely random what gets worked on and what doesn't. Which again puts the system on the brink of collapse, just for managerial rather than technical reasons.
I'm not sure which of these three options is the most worrisome. -
-
Hi Minters!
I wanted to provide a quick update to let you know we are still working on this issue. Once we have the resolution we will get back to this thread and post an update as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this is causing and look forward to reporting that it's resolved soon.
Thanks for your patience.-
Again with the cut and paste!

As David Woodward posted OH SO LONG AGO: "Really!?!?
8 months ago you were monitoring the issue, 5 months ago you were addressing the issue, and now after a YEAR of comments and complaints it's being "worked on with high priority"? You'll have to forgive me if I don't hold my breath." -

I'm in IT. And if closed don't synch statement really can't be that hard. When you say it is being worked on for 5 months, that just isn't the truth. Why isn't this fixed yet?
-
-
Charmane,
I am sorry but the quality of the feedback is downright insulting.
can we get a clear answer as to why fixing this issue is taking so long?
this is not an improvement, it's a bug fix.
and it's seems to be both common to all users and easy to fix. -
-
-
-
I could really use this, like... today. Our credit card is tied to my wife's bank login and the my car loan is tied to my bank login. Without the ability remove turn off duplicates, I can't use this site for it's exact purpose, consolidating all my financial information into one spot.
-
-
I would like to add that this problem collides rather badly with the "inactive, please reconnect" issue created by the recent upgrade in banking access.
Due to one thing and another, I have an account that (from the point of view of Mint) has been closed for the better part of 3 years. But it is *still* asking me to reconnect and link that account.
For all I know, this may be linked to the problem I'm having with hidden transactions that aren't hidden:
Spending Graphs (Over Time, By Category, etc) Missing Transactions from Certain Accounts -

I think Intuit bought Mint because they saw the competitive threat. So the best way to maintain Quicken marketshare is to let the frustration build from Mint users who routinely see cut/pasted and/or automated responses from customer service about trivial issues that cause significant pain in maintaining an accurate accounting of your financial situation and history.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but the behavior from Mint sure seems to support this idea...-
No, they bought Mint, then closed QuickenOnLine, and now have refused to address even the most elementary user requests
No transaction Import
CVS export only, not QIF/QFX
etc
What they want to do is kill off the free online service and force everyone into a paid destop/laptop "solution" -
-
KePutnam.... I agree, especially since their biggest competitor MS Money (for personal finance software, not accounting) is gone now. Although, I'm about to just go back to MS Money and not have auto updates. I can't find anything that works as well. Quicken desktop is a mess for anyone with any length of history to import.

Over a year and still now solution. Mint.com, this is not a difficult problem. Either you're not telling your customers the truth or your developers are incompetent. Neither one is a desirable quality in software application business.
-
-
Just want to put in my two cents on this issue. I just moved and changed banks, so I've closed several accounts, which Mint now insists on still trying to update. However, I'm having more than just a problem of update errors, which would be tolerable. I'm seeing, for each closed account that I have, Mint then creates a ghost account called "unnamed account", which it marks as active. I tried marking these accounts as closed, but then the next time I updated Mint created MORE ghost accounts. So now, for every original closed account, I actually have THREE accounts.
Seriously - this is a MAJOR PROBLEM. FIX IT.-
have the same prob. Frustrated
-
-
-
-
-
I have the same issue as rwentz. Actually, I have accounts that I closed over six months ago, suddenly showing up in my Overview. I'm even getting email notices that my account balance is low on an account that had been closed moths ago! the whole overview and trand data is now screwed up because of these duplicate accounts. I tried removing them by making them inactive and Mint puts them right back. What is going on here???!!!
-
-
I agree with everyone here. This should be an easy fix and its getting ridiculous that it is taking so long. I have a closed investment account that I marked as closed and every single day Mint not only re-opens and tries to sync it again, but it adds a new account for the same bank that I have to close. I'm now up to about 15 accounts when I used to have 2....currently have 0. This was just one of the numerous problems I've had with Mint lately and it's starting to wear on me. Yeah it's free (well ad supported) but if a couple bucks a month would get rid of all the bugs that pop up on a day to day basis I'd pay it. Please Mint...fix this.
-
-
Yeah my Wachovia account transfered over to Wells Fargo and even though I closed my Wachovia account on mint it keeps showing up under that unnamed account bs. It would be great real life was like mint and I doubled my money in my checking account but thats not really true. It does however seem that the internet has decided your programers are completely incompetent and all should be fired. I could figure out how to fix this issue in a year and a half myself and I am in no way qualified to be doing that sort of work.
-
-
Is there anybody out there or is mint just running on auto-pilot now? This is clearly a real problem for lots of users. Mint, when will this be fixed?
-
-
This problem is new to me. It just started happening about 2 weeks ago. It's annoying, because it doesn't allow me to have a clear picture of my financial situation. And if Mint doesn't fix it, my only solution is to delete the account (which I don't want to do, because I like have the transaction history available). But if Mint is not going to fix this, then I'll probably have to delete the account. Could someone from Mint please update the situation on fixing this problem?
-
-
My accounts are fine on Mint.com, but the iPhone and iPad apps continue to show "closed" accounts, which is frustrating. The iPad app is double counting one of accounts in the spending categories, even though one of the accounts is "closed," which doesn't paint an accurate picture of our spending reports. I'm hoping this gets fixed, but reading through the comments, it looks like this has been an issue for a while. :(
-
-
My closed account still updates sporadically and now I have 10 duplicates of the closed account. This is so annoying and it appears that the problem has not been addressed since a year ago.
Is there a better alternative to Mint.com? -
-
for each closed account that I have, Mint creates a ghost account called "unnamed account", which it marks as active. I tried marking these accounts as closed, but then the next time I updated Mint created MORE ghost accounts. So now, I have 10 duplicates of each account I ever used on Mint, and each shows in the list of accounts which makes it impossible to find a needed one among ~70 accounts listed. Please, fix the bug
-
-
getting unnamed account issue as well. I BETTER not have to delete the account and lose transactions from 6+ months ago just to get them taken away....
-
-
Same problem. I closed my account like told but it still has a balance by it. Why?
I want to keep my transaction history but hide the account. It says closed but keeps trying to connect still. Argh. -
-
looks like that, after today's update, mint.com is fixed and the ipad app is fixed but the iphone app is still updating closed accounts. anyone else seeing this?
-
-
-
Same problem as PhilliesPhans13... iPad app is working great with closed accounts, but iPhone app is showing them. (At least closed accounts that had balances).
-
-
Finally changed banks after moving. Want to keep data but stop old account from updating. Is this solved yet Mint?
-
-
-
-
yeah, this is a pretty annoying problem.
My wife and I have shared and individual accounts.
My wife uses Mint.com, I use Quicken (been using it for 12yrs).
Now, I can't download the transcations into Quicken, since Mint's sync'ing has already downloaded the **closed** shared account account. (I managed the shared account in Quicken, so I've marked it as closed in Mint)
This ought to be fixed, -
-
On the surface seems like an easy enough problem to fix, so I'm puzzled Mint hasn't been able to address this request satisfactorily
