USAA accounts not updating
All USAA accounts have not updated for 3 days now. I have verified that USAA is up and account information is available.
-
I have this problem as well, for a week now. It stopped updating after we changed our USAA password. Various updates and reversions of password did not help. (So it's possibly not related.)

My information is correct with my USAA account but mint seems unable to access my account info.

I got an idea, tried it, and it worked (so far).
Delete your USAA Account on MINT.
Logon to USAA with your browser.
Go to MY PROFILE>Manage Security and Privacy
At the bottom R pane, be sure your settings are as follows:
Recognize this computer? Yes
Remember My PIN on All Recognized Computers Yes
Security Level on All Computers We Don't Recognize Standard
I have a hunch the second item "Remember My PIN" is a culprit.
I have another hunch the third item "Security Level" is a culprit if set to Enhanced instead of Standard.
FINALLY, RE-ADD Your USAA Account to MINT (it should ask you one or two of your security questions). If it times out, delete the account in MINT and try again. It took me two tries to get it to work.
Hope it helps! So far so good for me.

This didn't work for me at all. It refuses to take my info, and I've set it up many many times now.

I've had the same problem for over a week and just got it to work. Go to "Fix It" and change your login info. Put your USAA username in the USAA member number block instead of your actual member number. It worked for me

didn't work for me

This USAA problem has been reported so many times and Mint seemingly makes no effort to research and address. I like Mint a lot but if they cannot support USAA then I may have to look elsewhere. USAA is a huge bank...not some obscure outfit. Mint, if you're listening, please assign a tech person to look into (and fix) the problem so many of us are having.

I don't understand why there is such an adamant demand for immediate support. For a free service, Mint support team are very responsive (from my browsing through the forums).
My USAA accounts failed to update for about two weeks. I found my solution at: http://satisfaction.mint.com/mint/top...
Here is the gist of Stevie Bee's solution:
"Here is what worked for me. Logged into usaa.com. Got to My Accounts. If you have customized views you will have Create a New Tab at the top right of the page - click that. Then select Return to Classic View (yes). My nicknames remained but the order and grouping I had rcreated were now gone. Login to Mint and update."-
As it's been 21 days since the last post to this thread, I think that blows away the suggestion that the Mint team is responsive.

It has just been generally flaky for me. Last night it wouldn't update for hours and then it updated my account totals but the transaction details for the previous 4-5 days did not update. This AM everything seems fine. Next week it will probably break again..
-
-
My USAA account is also NOT updating .... hasn't worked in the past 2 days that I noticed.... I have tried everything..... no luck. Is MINT aware of this issue?
-
-
I have had this problem. Deleting and reinstalling fixed it but I didn't see this thread and do all USAA my profiles stuff until after.
IT concerns me that I may have to delete and reinstall this bank occasionally. Won't be able to keep long term transaction info, and that is my main bill paying checking account. Substantially reduce's mint's utility if I can't keep more than a few months or weeks of USAA data on it.
Is there a way to export transactions and re-upload them after a delete and reinstall cycle? That would be onerous but at least its a viable way forward. -
-
I am also having this problem. My USAA account has not updated in 4 weeks. I have not changed anything regarding the account.

This did not fix my problem. I submitted a "trouble ticket" over a month ago. I've received multiple emails back stating Mint's engineering team has fixed the problem and try to update my accounts. This hasn't worked once, I do not understand how an engineering team can believe they have fixed this problem but it not be fixed?

-
This did not fix my problem either. I re-entered my account details, and Mint started to update, getting all the way to the "Downloading Transactions" step, but then it stopped and is back to saying "Temporary Issue". I submitted a bug report via the form Aysa linked above... hopefully someone can help me.

I think this problem lies on the side of Mint.com. My USAA information had not updated in about two weeks, so I finally called a technical support rep at USAA. He was able to view a log of my logins, and confirmed there hadn't been any unsuccessful attempts to retrieve data. It's like Mint's update feature isn't even making it to the USAA site for retrieval. I just deleted and re-entered my USAA info and it added all of my accounts successfully. So the problem obviously lies in the update.

this should not be considered solved if there are still problems. As I am having problems...

I second that. I first reported my issue with my account not updating on 7/21 via the customer service form. Customer service has responded on 6 separate occasions stating the problem has been fixed and that I should try to hit refresh. This has not worked one single time. I've re-entered my account log in information and that has not worked either. I'm currently looking for a different program, any one have a suggestion other than Mint?

Yes, I did. I just logged back into USAA to make sure Custom View was turned off and I tried to refresh Mint. No luck.

it was wierd for me too. It didn't work a few times, then I went into the resolve issue screen and it didn't work a time or two. But then one time it asked me for answers to the custom questions. I put them in and it worked. Now it updates fine.

Mint....are you listening? The problem is not solved! It's very frustrating to have to continually re-enter login information. It's so weird that Mint insists they've solved the problem and so many USAA accounts still do not update properly. Whatever "fix" they put in (if they are doing anything), they certainly do not test for a large enough number of accounts. Hint: do not say it is fixed until you are really sure.

I've tried all the recommendations and Mint still will not update my USAA accounts on command.
I can go away for a week and come back to find it updated 2 or 3 days ago, but it will not update when I tell it to.
Surely I'm doing something wrong.
HA!
A workable solution that will improve with time is USAA's own web site. If USAA stay true to form, eventually it'll surpass whatever Mint is offering. -
-
Yeah, no custom views here, re-entered all the account data to no avail. USAA website works fine. Mint has been flakey, working with USAA only occasionally since I signed up. What's the point if I'm spending more time fighting Mint than using it?

-
Emails back and forth with "Clarissa" from mint. She says they are aware of the situation and they are working on it. But that's the same reply she gives me for my other accounts that do not work.

USAA Banking hasn't worked in a week.
USAA investments hasn't worked in three weeks.
(And I have reentered my info.) -
-
My account hasn't been working since June...finally broke down and deleted/re-added it. Appears to be working now. I would suggest if you're still having this problem to do the same.
-
-
And it's quit working again. Now it wants the answer to my first security question first, then my username, then pin, password, 1st question, 2nd question, 2nd question answer, 3rd question, 3rd answer. Why does that order make sense?

I have an official response from USAA on the matter.
Please my original inquiry below:
I've been attempting to download financial information, such as transaction history, to several different finance management applications, but I can't seem to get any of them to work. I've tried using mint.com, iBank, etc., and always get various authentication-related errors. I'm positive I am putting in the correct username and password.
In addition, Mint.com wants me to enter my username, password, PIN, and all of the possible security questions and answers. I find it hard to believe that you actually authenticate against all of that. How exactly do you provide OFX files? Is there any API documentation I can view?
Thanks,
Shelton
...and USAA's response:
Thank you for your account activity inquiry. We appreciate your interest in downloading your account information into a financial management program. Currently USAA supports the use of Quicken software by Intuit and Microsoft Money while their software is still operational (Microsoft has discontinued the manufacture of the Money program).
USAA does not support the use of aggregate sites such as mint.com as they ask for sensitive information and we strongly encourage you not to provide your logon details to any third party site because you are sharing access to your financial accounts and your identity with persons unknown through the internet. In addition, when that site or online service accesses your information through the USAA server, our system could perceive the access as an unauthorized, fraudulent attempt to compromise your accounts and your access may be subject to an automatic lock out to protect your finances.
You must contact mint.com in order to obtain additional assistance with their services. Should you need further assistance with accessing your account information directly through usaa.com, our Website Customer Support unit is available between 6 a.m. and midnight Central Time at 1-877-632-3002, every day of the year.
We value your business and the opportunity to serve all your financial needs.
Thank you,
Reynaldo Muniz
USAA
So there you have it. Fault seems to lie with both USAA and Mint. USAA supports only one application despite the fact that OFX is an open standard. This is a poor decision on their part. At the same time, Intuit seems to have made no effort to extend their existing relationship to include Mint.
This being the case, I'm closing my Mint account. The connection is flaky at best and not supported by the bank, which means you (we) could be held at fault if anything goes wrong for giving Mint your login credentials. I like Mint, but it's just not worth dealing with it anymore.
I hope this helps.

There's actually an easy workaround to this issue.
Whenever you're having problems updating your USAA info on mint, login to USAA.com view your account information. In the process it should ask you some of your security questions. I assume it does this because it's been receiving some outside requests from companies like Mint, and it wants to make sure nobody is trying to enter your account wrongfully.
Once you login to USAA.com and look at your accounts, try updating your mint info - it works every time for me.-
That may be an effective work-around, but it's basically logging into your account as you (not as a third party registered with USAA) and doing a screen scrape. The problem with this is that every time USAA makes an update to the account screen it breaks Mint. They should be using an API and have a USAA issued API key. This ensures compatibility even after site changes and maximum security.
Regardless, my Mint account is now closed and it's going to stay that way unless the issue is resolved through a formal and supported relationship. -

I did that tonight and I don't get asked a security question at all, and i'm able to view my USAA accounts, but not thru mint.
