Update on "stuck" pending transactions

I wanted to confirm that we’re aware of the issues that many of you have been experiencing with pending transactions (italicized/gray transactions), and apologize for the frustration and inconvenience. We know it causes issues with budgeting and calculations, and truly appreciate your patience as we work toward resolution.

There are multiple cases where these pending transactions aren't clearing, which will require several fixes on the backend to resolve. The good news is that we have already begun to deploy fixes for this. The next step is to run a script so that budgets are recalculated. We’ll continue to ‘clean up’ on the backend to prevent this from continuing to happen.

The most common issues with pending transactions are: "stuck" pending transactions (old ones that are not reconciling with posted transactions), pending transactions that are debits but show as credits and vice versa, and duplicate pending transactions.

Essentially, we have to improve the logic behind how these pending transactions are reconciled with posted transactions. A few specific cases where the current logic is failing are:
- If you've edited pending transactions
- Some financial institutions show "hold" transactions, which are handled as pending on our end
- When a pending transaction and the posted transactions have different amounts (e.g. Some pending transactions do not include tip, but the posted transactions do)

We'll post updates as we get them. Thanks again for your continued patience as we work to resolve this issue.

UPDATE - 4/5/11

We've run another script to remove pending transactions, so hopefully most of you don't see them anymore.

For those of you who do, we also just released a feature that will allow you to delete edited pending transactions (which I see some of you have already discovered).

If you make an edit to the pending transaction (such as typing in a note or "excluding from Mint") you can now go back to "edit details" for that transaction and you should see a link below the notes section that says "delete this transaction" - which will remove the transaction.

Hope this helps to alleviate some of the frustration out there!
