How to remove the whole financial account or just certain accounts in Mint.com?
How can I delete just one account related to an institution? I have three accounts related to my bank and want to delete just one of them. When I go to delete it, the system says that all accounts will be deleted.

Hi MINTers,
Thank you for opening topics here in Mint's Get Satisfaction. Our apologies for the delayed response.
If you want to delete a whole financial account that is added in Mint, please follow the steps below.
How to delete the whole financial institution from Mint:
1. Login to your Mint.com account.
2. Go to the "Your Accounts" page.
3. Locate the account you want to remove from your profile.
4. Click on the "Delete" option to remove the account
A box will appear with these information -- Delete Financial Institution. This will delete all of your account data for whatever account you have. This cannot be undone later! Type “Delete”
5. Type the word "delete" then click the "Okay" button.
Note: Transactions associated with the said financial institution will also be removed in Mint and there is no way to retrieve historical data once the accounts under the said financial institution has been deleted.
If you would like to physically delete/remove certain accounts in Mint, there is actually no way to do that at the present. But you can either set your account status as "Hidden" or "Closed".
If you want to hide/exclude certain account/s from Mint features or just hide/exclude accounts that you don't want to track in Mint, set them to Hidden. Mint does have two options for hiding your account. You can choose to hide them either from "Budgets & Trends" or from "All of Mint". Your Cashflow graph will be adjusted accordingly.
Here's how to HIDE/EXCLUDE a certain account:
1. Click “Your Accounts” link at the upper right corner of the page.
2. Click the "Hide" tab.
3. Choose which account(s) you wish to show or hide either from the budgets and trends or from all of Mint.
4. Select Close.
Note: When you hide an account from "Budgets & Trends", the account will be excluded from budgets and trends sections only but transactions will still be visible. While if you choose to hide the account from "All of Mint", it will be excluded from all of Mint features and calculations. As such, transactions will also be hidden.
If you need to mark certain accounts as "Closed", stop Mint auto-updates and/or turn the balance to zero but want to keep historical data or transactions, you'll have to mark that certain account as Closed. Downloaded transactions will remain in Mint but the balance will be zeroed out. This will also stop Mint from auto-updating the account.
Steps on how to CLOSE a certain account:
1. Click the “Your Accounts” link at the upper right corner of the page.
2. Locate the account/s you want to change.
3. Click on the specific account then “Edit Details”.
4. Use the drop-down box on the right to mark the account closed.
I hope this answered your concerns. If this is unsatisfactory or if you encountered problems in doing the above, please file an incident by completing the Mint's Contact Form (http://www.mint.com/help/#contact-form). One of our Customer Service representative will assist you with your particular issue via email.
Have a good day!

Hello,
Unfortunately I need to complete remove Mint.com from my computer and my life. Reason being, I just recently found out that if there is a security breach with this site and it results in fraudulent activity in one of my accounts, my financial institution will not cover any of the costs. They will not investigate, they will do nothing to help me out. Since I have passed along their account numbers willingly, I am left completely exposed.
That is too risky for me so I have decided to completely erase this tool. It's sad because I do love what it does, I'm just not prepared to deal with financial trouble if there is any type of security breach.
My question then is: How can I know for sure that all of my financial information has been erased? What proof can mint.com provide me? I dont' just want to delete accounts and still have those numbers stored someone in the company. I want them totally gone. Can mint provide such proof? Or do I need to head to my bank and change all of my accounts, myself?
I have no problem doing that. I'm just curious to see if Mint provides a service like this. -

It would be nice to be able to delete a loan.
IE, under my bank, I enter my bank account info and Mint will pull my loan, savings, checking, etc.
I recently paid off the loan, however the loan is still present in Mint. That loan account is GONE from my bank, there will never be anymore updates to it. However I don't see that it's possible to remove this loan without having to remove my entire bank- which I'd assume will make Mint lose all my categories of transactions I've gone through when I re-add it.

I am becoming more than disappointed with Mint. I had planned to use it as a supplement to my Quicken software. Unlike Quicken, Mint isn't accurate. With two of my accounts, at Ing Direct and Chevy Chase Bank, when Mint updates, it reflects new accounts, such as CDs, but does not delete accounts, such as CDs, that no longer exist. It therefore reports as if I have more $$ than I possess. This is not a satisfactory way of tracking my assets.

I have multiple accounts through Schwab (brokerage, 401(k), checking account, ...) and I used to have a credit card with them. Recently, the card was transfered to a third party (FIA Card Services). It is the same credit card, with the same number, just administered by a different company. I've added the new website (FIA) to mint so it could track transactions, but I can't delete the old one without deleting all of my Schwab accounts.
Please advise how I can do this.
Thanks,

I'm kinda pissed. Mint downloaded all of the BofA accts that I have access to without asking me. Some of these are not mine--they are business accounts. Now I have a bunch of junky info and transactions that have nothing to do with my personal finances. I was w/ quicken online and didn't want this headache in the first place. I want to get rid of all unnecessary transactions ( the ones that are not from my accounts) from within Bof A an still keep my personal transactions from BofA. Note this is not simply marking the acct as 'closed' because this will not get rid of the transactions. As of now, I have no usable data with your service. So far, very disappointing. A promising product with major flaws. Hopefully you can help me with a resolution. I have not been able to figure it our from your current set of 'friendly' instructions.

I have a business checking account in my usbank.com account that gets pulled into Mint, even though I don't want it pulled in.
I tried to close it out, which just set the balance to zero. I was hoping that this would ignore the transactions, or remove the transactions, but it doesn't.
I tried to figure out a way to delete that one account, no dice. I tried to delete all of those transactions, but there is no way to do that either.
Do you have any suggestions? I was a MINT user a long long time ago, and went away because of how hard it was to long in after some changes you made.

Hi MINTers,
Thank you for opening topics here in Mint's Get Satisfaction.

Mint thinks I have an account that I don't have. If I try to delete it, I get a warning that I will delete all information for all accounts at that institution. I don't want to delete the other accounts, just the one that I don't have. By the way, the account in question does not show up on the institution's web site -- I think there is a potential security/privacy issue with Mint showing me information from the account of someone other than me.

I don't want to delete financial accounts because the transactions are deleted also from what I've read. There should be a way to archive closed financial accounts so that the transactions stick around in the history, but I'm not bugged about Mint not being able to connect to those accounts.

I have checking, savings, money market and credit card all at the same credit union. I connected to the credit union through mint once for my accounts and once for my credit card (as instructed). In both cases I retrieved my checking and savings accounts. So those accounts are listed twice, throwing off all of my financial totals. How do I delete my checking and savings accounts from the section containing my credit card and keep them in the section containing my money market?

I share several bank accounts with a family member, but I do not actually use them. When I listed that bank institution, all of the accounts were added to my mint.com list of accounts, income, spending, budgets, etc. Is there any way to remove the accounts that I do not use so that the information which mint.com is extracting is only from those accounts that I actually use? I've been using mint for over a year now and I have old accounts now that have been closed out. I've closed those accounts in my "Accounts" page but those accounts still show up in the "My Accounts" page, and some are YELLOW due to various login issues so they always show up at the top of the list, which is slightly annoying.
Is there a way to remove those accounts w/o actually deleting them? (I wouldn't want to delete the transaction history)

My daughter and I both have Smarty Pig accounts. I only have the ability to "view" her accounts. I have no desire to monitor her accounts in mint.com. It is frustrating that her information is included in my totals when in fact this is not my money. When I added my chase.com accounts to mint.com I was able to edit my mint.com account so I wouldn't see my son's checking account information. So, I know that it is possible to exclude what accounts I can see in mint.com but why can't I exclude my daughter's Smarty Pig accounts?

Is there a way to exclude my savings account information from my "transaction" details. Under transactions it lists my total cash available, including my savings account. But I don't ever plan or want to spend from that account (it's for emergency situations only). It gives my wife a false sense of having money available that's really not available. The only money I want to show as available under transactions is what's in my checking accounts. My cash available is artifically inflated...I don't want to include that account in certain situations.

I have 2 Capital One credit cards, and 2 Capital One bank accounts.
I set up MINT to only update ONE of those cards and ONE of those accounts by setting the other card/account to "closed."
However, MINT is downloading transactions from both of my credit cards and both of my bank accounts with capital one, even the accounts that I have marked as closed. This is causing a lot of confusion and a lot of having to go through and "exclude from mint" the inappropriate transactions.
Please help!

Not sure if this helps, as most of these posts are a few months old... but here goes. I use USAA for my banking and their website allows me to hide certain accounts from showing when I log in. When I set up Mint, my hidden USAA accounts didn't load (which was fine with me at the time). So, if your bank's website allows you to hide certain accounts, that may help you control what shows in Mint. BUT, it appears that Mint only sees the accounts that existed when you initially set them up. So you may have to delete, and re-install your bank info to capture new accounts like I had to.
Here's the backstory, I'd just purchased some new CDs (new accounts) with my bank after I'd already set up Mint. The problem was that these new accounts weren't updating (i.e. not showing up at all) in Mint. I had to delete my entire USAA group of accounts and re-accomplish the setup of USAA like I did on day 1. It worked, and the new accounts are showing now. AND, I had "unhidden" all my USAA accounts on the USAA website before re-installing USAA in Mint--they all show now!
Anyway, hope that makes sense and helps someone out there... -
