create budget in previous month
Can you start the budget during a previous month? Can the budget I entered in February be used to populate the month of January so that I can see where I went over?

Inappropriate? No, mint doesn't have the ability to edit previous month's budgets. Though, if you click on the "This year" button on the top right of the planning page you may get something close to what you're looking for.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?right now there is no way to edit a past month's budget. many people have suggested being able to edit future months, but that is not available either.

Inappropriate?I too would like to edit last and next month's budgets. Unfortunately, choosing "This year" selects all months elapsed so far, yet the budgets are not accurate. It ignores the prior month's transactions that were not assigned a budget category by placing them into "Everything Else" even though they have a budget for the current month. Going to just the previous month and clicking on "You don't have any budgets for expenses. Want to add one?" does nothing to the budget or adds the prior transactions despite my trying to add a category. It seems the budgeting features are sorely lacking functionality. That's disappointing because so much of the rest of Mint is excellent and actually fun to use.
I’m disappointed

Inappropriate?I went back and categorized all by YTD transactions thinking thta would allow me to associated a budget with previous months. Silly me...for thinking that historic trends are important to helping set a budget. Sorry for the sarcasm, but after three hours and several hundred reclassifications in order to generate accurate numbers, I am just a little bitter. Never DREAMED there would not be this kind of functionality given the popularity of this site. And why on earth can't you set up a budget in advance?!?!
Maybe should've stuck with my initial plan and bought Quicken.
I’m Frustrated!!

Yes we need to be able to edit previous budgets and plan upcomming month's budgets!!! It is really hard to get a good picture of things if i have only 1 or 2 months of data and I can't add subtract or change anything. It really messes up the whole "picture" of things.
